Price Waterhouse Coopers’ Interviews Woodbury Medical Group’s Dr. Felix Horng As Expert About Healthcare Access
Irvine, CA; August 3, 2009 - Price Waterhouse Coopers’ Health Research Institute recently interviewed Dr. Felix Horng for its report titled, “Jammed access: Widening the front door to healthcare”, which was released in July 2009.
The PWC report addresses the current issue of access to medical care. In addition to uncovering consumer and provider opinions on the issue, the report explores flexible options to improve medical access.
Others interviewed for the report include: Philip Fasano (Chief Information Officer - Kaiser Permanente), Craig Froude (Executive Vice President - WebMD Health Services), and Scott Sarran, MD (Chief Medical Officer - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois).
The following is an excerpt from Dr. Horng’s interviews:
“After opening an urgent care/primary care practice in an Irvine, California retail center, Felix Horng, MD, formed an agreement with nearby employer, Parker Hannifin, which has 1,700 workers. Horng set up a satellite clinic on site one to two days a week, with the option to visit or perform additional services at the retail center three miles away. “We intentionally went to a place where there are other life service providers. 17% of our new patients came in because they saw us while shopping in this outdoor center. We’ve created informal synergies by cohabitating with businesses that people go to on a regular basis (grocery, coffee shop, pharmacy). We have a symbiotic relationship,” said Horng.”
